Breakfast Bags Bonanza I
The idea that some children go without breakfast when school is on break inspired the We Cancerve Movement, Inc., to create the Breakfast Bags Bonanza to stuff paper sacks with food children grab easily. Thanks to a donation from Giant Food of Landover, and support from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County, We Cancerve's stuffing party attracted almost 100 volunteers who stuffed more than 600 bags. Bags were delivered to area homeless shelters and programs in Harford County, Baltimore County and Pikesvile, Md.
Grace Callwood: My Story as a Peacemaker
Callwood, a 2015-2017 Peace First Fellow, shares the story of We Cancerve with a national audience as part of the Peace First Challenge, which is a global call-to-action to all young people to join a community of peacemakers dedicated to finding compassionate solutions to the world’s problems. Here, she's shown with members of We Cancerve's all-youth board of advisors Mario Nandalal, left, and Erin Acerno, right. This photo captured them on the last day of Camp Happy at Anna's House, a Bel Air transitional housing program homeless women and children. Mario, Grace and Erin helped organize carnival games and activities for children living there. We Cancerve created Camp Happy in 2015.
