Passion Area: Children Aging Out of Foster Care
Mason Darr, 13, is a member of the all-youth board of advisors of the We Cancerve Movement, Inc., a nonprofit that brings happiness to children experiencing homelessness, catastrophic illness and food insecurity, who are in foster care, group homes and orphanages, and to unaccompanied minors. He is currently an eighth grade enrolled in a Harford County Public School.

Mason joined the board after attending a few of We Cancervec events. He participated in community events Sensational toiletries drive, the Eggstra Special Easter Bagskits drive, and Snack Attack. As a highly recommended community volunteer, he also volunteered as a Camp Happy counselor and helped the board of advisors brainstorm prizes and activities for the free summer enrichment camp We Cancerve created in 2015.

He said he enjoys helping others, and values the connections and teamwork among the group of youth leaders.

“I believe that I can bring some ideas in to the program and also help more kids that are just like me,” said Mason.

Outside of community service, Mason participates in Bel Air Recreation Lacrosse and Soccer programs.
