Gift to Give

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR HOMELESS & SICK KIDS TO GIVE PARENTS GIFTS

We started “Gift to Give” in December 2016 as a project that helps children living at homeless shelters and transitional housing programs give their mothers a gift for Christmas. The children could pick from an assortment of women’s handbags and an array of items like cosmetics, toiletries and small trinkets to stuff in the purse. Now, we’re expanding “Gift to Give” so homeless and hospitalized children can give moms, dads and grandparents gifts for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Grandparents' Day.

Here's how it works

1. Contact We Cancerve and let us know you're interested in this project. Make sure you have a plan in place to collect new and gently-used handbags/purses, duffle bags/gym bags, cosmetic cases and attache cases and after our approval, start collecting!

2. Invite friends, family and local vendors to donate new and unused toiletries, cosmetics, shaving kits, hair grooming supplies, toothbrushes and tooth paste, restaurant and grocery store gift cards and gift certificates, and gas cards.

3. Compile gently-used and new gift bags, tissue paper, ribbons and gift labels.

4. Coordinate with We Cancerve a date you'd like to co-sponsor the gift stuffing party with either a hospital or homeless shelter/transitional housing program.

"Sometimes, when you feel really sad, helping someone else like a relative smile can really pick your spirits up."
